Repairs vs. Cost Cutting
Repairs are a necessary cost for every property, and there is often a rush to cut corners wherever possible, Here a few guidelines to follow.
Where to cut costs:
- Plumbing or electrical - Most repairs can be taken care of by a handyman, saving the cost of a union plumber or electrician.
- Minor roof repair - Many roof repairs can also be fixed by a handyman.
- Painting and carpeting - Again, many handymen are adept at laying carpet etc. Painting, repairs and maintenance should be taken care of by an insured and licensed HVAC tech.
Where not to cut costs:
- Major roofing repairs - These type of projects should always be handled by an insured contractor/roofer.
- Furnace/Boiler repairs - Since the consequences of a furnace/boiler repair or installation gone wrong can literally “blow up in your face”, it’s best to leave these repairs to a licensed and insured HVAC tech.
